AFRCP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing pancreatic cancer research

Missions

Pancreatic cancer is a major public health challenge, with incidence rates continuing to rise worldwide. By 2030, it is projected to become the second leading cause of cancer-related death in some regions. Often diagnosed at an advanced stage, pancreatic cancer remains difficult to treat, with limited therapeutic options.

The French Association for Pancreatic Cancer Research (AFRCP) is a nonprofit organization established under French law (1901) that brings together clinical and basic research teams dedicated to improving our understanding of pancreatic cancer biology and developing better treatments, with the ultimate goal of improving patient care and outcomes.

Our missions include fostering collaboration between clinical and basic researchers, promoting scientific communication and public outreach, coordinating research and training initiatives, strengthening partnerships with international organizations, and engaging with national institutions to secure funding for pancreatic cancer research.

AFRCP is authorized to receive donations, which directly support pancreatic cancer research projects and the organization of national and international scientific meetings.

The main missions of the French Association for Pancreatic Cancer Research (AFRCP) are to:

  • Build a collaborative research network connecting clinical and basic researchers across France, fostering scientific and medical collaborations between institutions.

  • Promote scientific communication and outreach, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and making pancreatic cancer research accessible to a wider audience.

  • Coordinate research and training initiatives in pancreatic cancer.

  • Strengthen international collaborations with organizations dedicated to pancreatic cancer research worldwide.

  • Engage with national institutions (INCa, ITMO Cancer) to advocate for and secure funding for pancreatic cancer research in France.

In 2017, AFRCP's advocacy contributed to the launch of PAIR-PANCREAS (Integrated Research Action Programme). This national research initiative was jointly supported by the French National Cancer Institute (INCa), the ARC Foundation for Cancer Research, and the French League Against Cancer. The results of the call for proposals were scheduled for publication in early 2018. Learn more.
